Hello everyone! Coming to you from Las Lenas, Argentina. Home of some of the worlds best big mountain ski terrain Las Lenas will host its first freeskiing event in many years. Tomorrow, August 25th, 2009 30 skiers from around the globe will ski off the top of the Marte Face.
Athletes from Argentina, Chile, USA, Bulgaria, France and other locations around the world are going to make some history. the unfortunate break down of the Marte Lift has forced organizers to use snow cats to get the skiers to the top. the dedication of the Las Lenas organizers and these international athletes will make this an event to remember and one that will set the stage for a future of freeskiing events here in Las Lenas.
IFSA Head Judge, Jim Jack will head up the judging panel along with pro athletes Mike Duhalde, Claudio Margaride and Alberto Schiavon. With the arrival of the first stop of the Freeskiing World Tour(FWT) next week in La Parva, Chile this was a great opportunity for Las Lenas and the IFSA to work together to make this event a success.
"I was very excited to be invited to help with this event and am even more excited to make this an annual stop for athletes to come showcase their talents on the mountains of las Lenas." Say's Jim Jack. "the people of Argentina are very passionate about their mountains and want to be a part of an International tour like the Freeskiing World Tour".
